Retired Super Eagles striker Nwankwo Kanu has predicted that Taiwo Awoniyi will become one of the stars of Nigerian football in future.
The Nigeria youth international proved that his performance at the 2013 Fifa Under 17s was not a flash in the pan, scoring three times at the African Youth Championship last month.
Taiwo Awoniyi further displayed his skills on Sunday, with his brace helping the Dream Team defeat Zambia 2-1 in an All Africa Games qualifier.
“I watched him play for U17, U20 and talked to him, our hottest kid and if he keeps doing his best he will be a star. AWONIYI,” Kanu Nwankwo tweeted.
Awoniyi began his career at hometown club United Academy, and has been linked with a plethora of teams in Europe in recent weeks.
