The Super Sand Eagles thrashed the Seychelles 10-1 in their African Beach Soccer Championship opener.
The 10-1 win recorded by the Nigerians over Seychelles didn't start as early as the Super Sand Eagles would have thought but when the goals started hitting the back of the net; the Nigerians never stopped going forward.
The hosts who were playing for the first time in the African Beach Soccer Championship gave a good account of themselves.
After holding on strong in the early stage, Seychelles gave in.
The Super Sand Eagles got two goals in the opening frame, goals from Emeka Ogbonna and Ikechukwu Ibenegbu gave Nigeria the lead.
Though the hosts' committed display was obvious as the game progressed into the second but the Nigerians added a third goal from Emmanuel Ohwoferia and after that the Nigerians kept hitting series of shots at Seychelles which resulted into a 5-0 lead with goals from both Abu Azeez and Captain of the team, Isiaka Olawale.
Seychelles got a beautiful goal that was applauded by the fans, Mathiot thundered a shot from distance that bounced off the crossbar to put the score at 6-1 after Emeka Ogbonna had scored for Nigeria and Taiwo Adams increased the score line to 7-1 to finish the second twelve minutes 7-1 in favour of the Super Sand Eagles.
Seychelles worked on their back line in the final frame throwing a lot of bodies at the uncountable shots the Nigerians threw at them.
The Super Sand Eagles weren't satisfied with the score line and a brilliance by Ikechukwu Ibenegbu who will be missed by Warri Wolves in their CAF Confederation Cup this weekend made it 8-1 while Victor Tale and Abu Azeez made it 10-1 at the end of the third period.
