As preparations for the upcoming Nigeria National League enter its final
phase for C.O.D United, the League authorities released the opening
round of fixtures over the weekend. The Lagos State FA cup champions who
went on break for the festive period after more than a month in camp,
resumed on Monday 6th of January, 2014.
The White Lions will now play their opening game against Ogun State based side, Gateway FC at the Onikan Waterfront Stadium on the weekend of 24-26 this month.
C.O.D United started off last season, losing away to newly promoted side Crown FC and would be gunning for a better start this time around as the team continues its quest for a ticket to the top flight. Ahead of the opening game, captain of the side, Olowo Femi believes consistency and not just home form will be the key to success.
"Its good to know our first game will be at home to Gateway. Although, we won this particular fixture at home last season, things are different now after the changes that have taken place in our team.
''Our home form has always been good but if there's one thing I have learnt in football, consistency is crucial in achieving your targets. We'll approach every game this season as if it's our last and give our all in order to be up there or thereabouts when the season enters a crucial stage".
