Ter Stegen rejects Gladbach deal, fuels Barca rumours

Borussia Monchengladbach have announced that goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen will not be renewing his contract with the club.

Ter Stegen’s existing agreement with the Bundesliga outfit expires in 2015 but the Barcelona target has informed them he will not be penning an extension to the deal.

As a result, Borussia sporting director Max Eberl, in a thinly veiled hint that the player will be joining the Catalans for next term, issued a statement via Borussia’s official website.

“Marc has informed us that he won't accept our offer and therefore will not extend his contract with us," it read.

“It is a great shame from our point of view but we must accept it. We suspect he will join the club about which there has been a lot of speculation.

“I fully expect we will need to find a new goalkeeper for next season.”

The 21-year-old stopper has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Camp Nou since current Barca incumbent Victor Valdes announced he will be leaving at the end of the 2013-14 campaign to experience a fresh challenge and a different culture.
