Glass House confirms Dedevbo's Falconets appointment, team to resume training on Monday

Peter Dedevbo has been confirmed as the chief coach of the U-20 women’s team.

He was an assistant coach of the first-ever U-17 women’s team, which featured at the inaugural FIFA U-17 women’s World Cup finals in New Zealand in 2008.

He managed the Flamingoes (U17) to a quarter final placing in Trinidad and Tobago in 2010 and Azerbaijan in 2012.

He will be assisted by Toyin Ayinla, a former captain and defensive stalwart of Abiola Babes FC of Abeokuta, at the time that the club dominated Nigeria’s domestic game. The goalkeeper trainer is Haruna Uche.

The tactician has invited to camp 30 players for screening ahead of the qualifying series of FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup finals in Canada in August 2014.

Falconets have been drawn are up against the U-20 Women’s Team of Burkina Faso in the African first round fixtures of the African Zone, with the first leg coming up in Nigeria in the last weekend of October, 2013.

A quick breakdown of the team sees Delta Queens and Rivers Angels contributing 6 players each, Bayelsa Queens produced 5 players, while Pelican Stars have 4 players.

Other teams that have players in the team are Ibom Angels, Nasarawa Amazons, Adamawa Queens and FCT Queens.

Rivers Angels defensive midfielder, Asisat Oshoala, who represented at the 2012 U20 World Cup made the cut alongside, Fasilat Adeyemo, Abosede Kayode, Ugo Njoku, Osas Igbinovia and Winifred Eyibhorah.

Others in the squad are Ebere Okoye, Sarah Nnodim, Kemi Abiodun, Halimat Ayinde and Nigeria U17 skipper, Victoria Aidelomon.

The goalkeepers should give the coaches a lot to think about due to their form. They are Nasarawa Amazons' Ibijoke Sangonuga, who was part of the Falcons team that lost to Japan, Rivers Angels' Bidemi Aluko, the upcoming Chichi Sandra and Fabian Briggs.

Surprise exclusions in the list are Chinwendu Ihezuo (Pelican Stars), Andy (Sunshine Queens), Rita Okemu (Confluence Queens), Remilekun Omamuli (Confluence Queens), Joy Bokiri (Bayelsa Queens), Kafayat Ajani (Nasarawa Amazons) and Bukky Ogunnoiki (Pelican Stars).

Invited player are set to hit camp in Abuja on Monday 7th October, 2013.
