Prime
Football Club produced a master class performance with a 2-0 win over
Ekiti United Football Club in the opening day of the Nigeria National
League season.
The Omoluabi Giants kept their
pre-season rather quiet and it clearly worked with Prime opening their
campaign with a deserved win over the Oshoko Boys.
A
49th minute penalty and 82nd minute strike of the game, sealed a
crucial victory for the Omoluabi Giants at the Federal Polytechnic Ede
Sports Complex.
Prime created more chances and
dominated ball possession but wasteful in front of goal, to end the
first half goalless with Ekiti United goalkeeper, Anibor Emmanuel,
making remarkable saves including a 30 minutes penalty.
Former
Ekiti United attacker, Damola Fakayode got into the act of terrorizing
his former team defence line which resulted into second penalty after
Ekiti United goalkeeper, Anibor Emmanuel, obstructed a goal bound move
for Fatai Abdullah to covert the spot kick sending the goalkeeper the
wrong way.
Substitute striker, Chukwuemeka Ogundu, scored from a fierce shot which gave goalkeeper no chance.
Ekiti United had their opportunities too but a lackluster performance from their strikers let them down on several occasions.
It
remains to be seen how Prime will go this season but on the back of
this season, the prospects of a better season than last are promising.
Prime will next weekend face Ikorodu United FC away at the Agege Stadium.
