Some football fans including former Nigeria international Edema Fuludu on Tuesday expressed fears about the chances of Warri Wolves in the Confederation Cup tournament following their 3-0 loss to AC Leopards of Congo in the first leg of the competition.
The fans said in Asaba that the goals conceded by Wolves might make it difficult for the team to win the return leg match.
Fuludu, now the Vice-Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, said it would be difficult task for Wolves to cancel the three goals deficit.
“For Wolves to lose by three goals means that the Congolese side are a quality team and they cannot come to Warri to easily concede four goals.
“This is why I believe the second leg is going to be a difficult game for Wolves, but they can still do it if they are determined. It is all about motivation and preparation.”
He said the DFA would meet with the technical crew of the team to evaluate their experience in Congo, and work out plans to win the return leg match.
Chike Onuarah, an ex-footballer and Secretary of the Asaba All-Stars football team, expressed the belief that Wolves could still overcome the challenge and qualify if they prepare well.
“Though, losing with a wide margin, puts a team in a difficult situation. I am still optimistic that Wolves can still win the second leg match with a wider margin, if the team is well motivated.”
However, a football fan, Emma Amokhai, said Wolves should forget the competition and plan on how to finish well in the Premier League.
