Warri Wolves goalkeeper, Tejiri Rhiogbere, has been handed a 12-month ban from all African competitions for spitting on a referee.
Nigeria's only club left on the continent this season, Warri Wolves FC, has been dealt a tough blow as the Confederation of African Football, on Tuesday, announced that the Seasiders goalkeeper, Tejiri Rhiogbere, has been handed a 12-month ban from all African competitions for spitting at an assistant referee.
Warri Wolves have a tough task to overcome when they face AC Leopards in the second of CAF Confederation Cup playoff after losing the first leg by 4-0.
After CAF's disciplinary committee meeting on Sunday, the African football governing body has stated that it would forward Tejiri Rhiogbere's case to FIFA which would mean his ban may be extended worldwide.
The decision to ban him was based on an incident that occurred on May 1, 2015, when the Nigerian club, Warri Wolves, won away from home by a lone goal against MK Etancheite (Congo) in the CAF Confederation Cup match.
