Theophilus Solomon will commit his future to Croatian top division club HNK Rijeka by signing a two - year deal with option of a third year when he clocks 18 on Saturday, January 18.
The first professional contract to be signed by the teenager - who has drawn comparisons with Portugal and Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo - is worth 3,000 euros monthly for the first year while he will take home 48,000 euros annually in 2015.
Despite interest from AC Milan, Inter Milan and Barcelona, Solomon chose to stay because Rijeka had threatened to send the other Nigerians in their roster back to Africa and he does not want his desire to scupper his compatriots future.
On top of that, the Rijeka brass said the club will severe their links with nursery club FAA Abuja as Solomon was primary to the plans of setting up the academy.
That is not to say the Barcelona interest is dead but it is a foregone conclusion that the transfer is not feasible until at least the summer.
