Falconets gaffer spoiled for choices

Peter Dedevbo is spoiled for choices as he looks forward to the 2014 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup final round second leg qualifier away at South Africa on 25th January 2014.

It makes predicting his starting eleven a difficult task, though there are some core skillful players who are certain to be involved.

Ibom Angels goalkeeper Sandra Chichi is the number one choice and has played in every qualification match so far, keeping a clean sheet in five games played by the team to date.

But that doesn't mean Nasarawa Amazons custodian Ibijoke Sangonuga and Sunshine Queens 18-year-old ace Gift Andy are not capable of doing a fantastic job if given the chance.

A defence that has been stable with the presence of Victoria Aidelomon, Gladys Abasi, Idike Jiroro, Sarah Nnodim and Ebere Okoye.

The backline is buzzing once again with the return to full fitness of Confluence Queens defender Fasilat Adeyemo, who fans of the game have faith in to lead the defence when the team eventually qualify for Canada 2014. She replaced Idike Jiroro in the 6-0 rout of the South Africans.

Once again stakeholders of the women football cycle believes Bayelsa Queens' right back Ugo Njoku, 19, should get her fair share of games considering her wealth of experience having been a regular at the 2012 edition.

The midfield is full of enforcers, it's no surprise that Winifred Eyebhoria, Asisat Oshoala and Osas Igbinovia have all been dominant, thereby making the strikers job easier.

I have been particularly impressed with form of Pelitican Stars midfielder, Winifred, who can also slot in as an orthodox winger when needed.

A game is incomplete without the goals scored, it's a flavour that the girls have not lacked and you will agree with me that a strike force that has scored 30 goals in 5 matches, an average of 6 per game is a ruthless one.

Sunday Uchechi-Lopes is the leader in crime. Bayelsa Queens' Yetunde Adeboyejo is an option upfront, but I must not rule out the contribution of Halimatu Ayinde, Chidinma Edeji and the returning Loveth Ayila.

Finally, I think the Falconets have already qualified for Canada 2014. Did I hear somebody say it's not over?
