Stanley Eguma has hailed the abolition of sign-on-fees by the League Management Company (LMC).
The coach of Dolphins FC told News Agency of Nigeria that the policy is laudable, but noted that it should have been implemented earlier as some clubs have already engaged players on the basis of the old sign-on-fees regime.
"The initiative is a good one as players are now going to be paid on the basis of performance," Eguma said.
"It is a very good decision but it is too late to be adhered to this season. This is because the League was meant to have started since last year and club managers have already engaged players who are expecting signing-on fees."
It should be however that as part of the outcome of the consultative meeting between the LMC and the Club Owners representatives, all participating clubs have agreed to adhere to the enhanced salary scheme.
