Francisca Ordega has stated that the Super Falcons worked hard for a 3-3 draw against Sweden in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup opener on Monday.
"It was a tough game but we gave our best shot and it paid off. We worked towards the result we got today. We dreamt about it, we thought about it, we eat about it and we sleep about it. Sweden is a good side, they are one of the best in the world but with God on our side we were able to fight back."
The Super Falcons needed the right motivation after going down into the break with a two goal deficit and their coach, Edwin Okon came in handy.
"The coach, Edwin Okon encouraged us during the break, he told us to go in there and do what we know how to do best. He gave us the confidence and made us realized that we are better than Sweden. He told us that regardless of their position in world football we still can fight back to get the job done,” Ordega said after the match.
The Washington Spirit striker, who was over-joyed after scoring, said she didn't remember how the goal happened but she's happy her loved ones were watching.
"I didn't recollect how the goal I scored happened but I'm happy that Nigerians back home, my family and my team mates at Washington Spirit are watching,” Ordega concluded.
