Onyedinma hails Falcons’ draw against Sweden

The Chairperson of Nigeria’s Women Football League, and Nigeria's leader of delegation to the on going FIFA Women World Cup in Canada, Chief (Mrs) Dilichukwu Onyedinma, has expressed optimism on the abilities of the Super Falcons to outclass their Australian counterpart in the make or mar encounter today in the on going FIFA Women World Cup holding in Canada.

She also praised the efforts of girls in their first match against Sweden while urging them to avoid all the mistakes that made made them come from behind to square the match at 3-3.

The NFF Executive Board member, who said she never lost hope when they were two goals down, against Sweden, but rued the many scoring chances the team missed to that game.

"I give thanks to God for giving us the result we got against Sweden because, nobody gave us a chance before the match because Sweden is ranked among the toughest teams in this World Cup. They have always participated in World Cup and have always done well, and they look at us as lowly rated going to play a top team like Sweden, but with the kind of efforts that our girls put into that match, it was very evident that we have become a force to reckon with. In our match against Australia today, the girls should go all out to get the maximum points at stake.''

''They should avoid the mistakes that led them coming from behind in the match against Sweden. I am very happy that our girls are not allowing our world rating to affect them in any way, and that is the spirit I am imploring them to maintain all through the tournament. I have absolute faith in them at any point in time. I never lose hope in these girls because they are committed and they know what they want and how to go for it at any point in time."

She promised that the NFF would continue to motivate them positively to ensure that they win the trophy at the end of the day.
