Former youth star relieved to end long drought

Ex-Nigeria U23 striker Odion Ighalo rescued a point for Granada in their 1 - 1 draw with Real Sociedad on Monday night.

The injury time strike, in the 93rd minute, was his second goal in La Liga this season, and it ended a run of seven months without finding the back of the net for the Andalusian outfit.

The attacker was relieved to break his goalless streak against Real Sociedad at Estadio Municipal de Anoeta.

''I'm happy to be on the score-sheet. This has been the most difficult season since I arrived Spain. I was out for close to three months due to injury.”

''I am hoping this important goal will bring us closer to safety,'' Odion Ighalo said to SL10.ng in a telephone conversation.”

One of Nigeria's top prospects Isaac Success joined Odion Ighalo at Granada in March and he has tipped him to succeed at the club if he keeps practicing hard.
''Success is doing well and training hard. He is still young and has more time to break into the team.”

''We have four strikers now, so it will be difficult for him to get into the team but if he keeps working hard at training, then, he will do that in future,'' the 24-year-old added.

Odion Ighalo has notched up 12 goals in 72 La Liga appearances for Granada.
