Kaduna United Names Odigie As New Gaffer

Former Nigeria Under-17 Coach Monday Odigie is now the new coach of Kaduna United who have been without a substantial coach since Hassa Abubakar resigned after a month in the job.

Odigie will be Kaduna United fourth Coach of the season but caretaker coach, Saleh Barnabas is expected to be retained in some capacity.

Already he has had his first training session with the team yesterday and scooped gathered by SL10 has it that he has listed down names of players he would like to have in the team as they bid to beat the drop.

However it remains to be seen how he can cope with the financial state of the team who presently owe their players 11 months unpaid salaries, a situation that played a big role in the resignation of former Coach Hassan Abubakar.

Also present General Manager of Kaduna United, Garba Lawal in 2010 was the most vocal among critics of Coach Monday Odigie after he failed to qualify the Nation under 17 team to the Africa Youth Championship in Rwanda losing to Congo in Kaduna.

Back then Garba Lawal labelled the former Enyimba assistant as incompetent and his excuses as rubbish.

"How can he be giving such excuses? It is unprofessional of him. I had expected Odigie to accept responsibility for the failure of his team and try and learn from his mistakes instead of opening his mouth wide and talking rubbish," he said.

After such harsh words four years ago it remains to be seen if both men can forget about the past and work together for the team who are almost as good as relegated.
