Former Sunshine Stars defender ruled out of Bosnia match

Rizespor central defender Godfrey Oboabona has been ruled out of Nigeria's clash with Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday, June 21 at Arena Pantanal (Cuiabá, Mato Grosso).

And the 23-year-old is racing against the clock to be fit for the Super Eagles final Group F fixture against Argentina four days later after he got injured in the tie with Iran on Monday evening.

Despite insisting he remained on the pitch after a bad tackle by an Iranian, the ex-Sunshine Stars skipper had to be substituted around the 30th minute when he could no longer bear the pain.

''Godfrey Oboabona is not okay. He is not going to play the next game with Bosnia. During the match with Iran, an Iranian player tackled him badly, used his hard studs to make contact with him.

''He has started his rehabilitation but will not train this evening with us, '' Super Eagles media officer, Ben Alaiya, told SL10.ng in a telephone conversation from Sao Paulo on Tuesday afternoon.

Godfrey Oboabona featured in two of the three warm up matches, against Greece and United States that the Super Eagles had before heading to Brazil.
