Ex-Flying Eagles winger part ways with Polish club

Zaglebie Lubin have announced that the club will not be extending their cooperation with former Nigeria youth international, David Abwo.

With the 28-year-old's current deal set to expire at the end of this month, talks on the renewal of his stay at the Coppers were dealt a blow following the club's relegation from the Ekstraklasa at the end of this season.

As a result of Zaglebie Lubin's demotion to Poland's second - tier, revenues from the league and sale of tickets will drop, and management decided that it was wise to get the Nigerian off the wage bill.

The 2013-2014 campaign was David Abwo's breakthrough season since his arrival in Poland, having netted six goals in 28 appearances for Zaglebie Lubin in the top flight.

On top of that, he played a pivotal role in the Polish Cup, where they were unlucky to lose to Zawisza Bydgoszcz in the finals via penalties.

David Abwo previously had spells with teams in Turkey (GenclerbirligiS.K.), France (Dijon and US Créteil-Lusitanos) and Hungary (Lombard Papa).
