Kogi United were defeated 2-0 by Adamawa United in the match day four of the Nigeria National League on Saturday in Fufore.
The match played at the Atiku Abubakar Stadium saw the Confluence state club trailing after seven minutes when Useni Farouk bundled in a goal from a scramble.
The Wada Boys regained possession immediately and they almost made it count in the 14th minute when Sanni Idris' shot went an inch wide from goal.
Destiny Ashadi also missed a sitter at the half-hour mark when the homers keeper Pwadadi came out well to save his last touch.
The introduction of Zadee Blee and Alex Adamu improved the attack of the away side and when it looked like they would get the needed equalizer, they conceded the second goal.
Shehu Abubakar sealed the victory for the home side and also Kogi United's first defeat of the season.
Head coach of Kogi United, Yomi Elijah, who expressed worry on his boys' finishing instinct noted that a draw would have capped their performance for the game.
"It wasn't a good result for us, we deserve to pick something from this match as my boys played better and created their own chances, we were just unfortunate to lose," began the former ABS FC handler.
"It was a balanced game, Adamawa were lucky to get their goals, the first goal was ok but the second to me doesn't look good as goal, this is not a time for blame games, we will go back home and work to improve on our scoring abilities,'' Elijah added.
Echoing his gaffer's assertions, midfielder Sanni Aloma Idris declared the Wada Boys were unlucky to be defeated adding that they would bounce back quickly ahead of their next match with a belief to end the season on a high.
Kogi United will host Plateau United in their next match in Lokoja on Saturday 13th June 2015.
