Pillars midfielder takes World Cup omission in good faith

If the words of Kano Pillars midfielder Rabiu Ali are anything to go by, he has taken his axing from the World Cup squad in good faith.

He insisted that Stephen Keshi considered the interest of the country first on his choice of players to make the trip to Brazil.
But the 27-year-olds omission raised some eyebrows after his eye catching performances at the African Nations Championship and being named on the ceremonial Team of the Tournament.
In fact, out of the three Nigerian players that made the Best XI including Ejike Uzoenyi and Kunle Odunlami, the Kano Pillars maestro is the only one that did not get Stephen Keshi's nod.
''I am not disappointed I was overlooked by the coach. I believe in the competency of my dear coach Stephen Keshi.”
'''Whatever Keshi did is for the best of the country. And I wish all ofthem a successful outing. I am always ready to answer the national team call in future,'' Rabiu Ali, fondly called Pele, told SL10.ng.
''Keshi has picked the best midfielders in the country, Mikel, Nosa, Joel Obi and Mba. Mikel is my role model, he is my favourite player. I am confident of the midfield composition.''
He netted a brace for the domestic Eagles at the African Nations Championship Group A fixture against Mozambique in January.
