ZLATAN, AUBAMEYANG, MATUIDI AND SILVA MAKES LIGUE AWARD SHORTLISTS

Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been named on a four-man shortlist for the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award.

The list is completed by Ibrahimovic's club-mates Blaise Matuidi and Thiago Silva along with Saint-Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Sweden international signed for PSG before the start of the season and has scored 27 goals in 31 league appearances.

That form has helped propel the capital club to the verge of securing their first Ligue 1 title since 1994, and victory against Lyon on Sunday will give them an unassailable lead over second-placed Marseille.

Silva joined the club with Ibrahimovic from Milan and has been instrumental in the heart of a PSG defence that has conceded just 21 league goals.

The Brazil international has featured 22 times for the club this season and has put in a string of impressive displays, drawing particular praise for his performance in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Barcelona that finished 2-2.

Matuidi completes the trip of PSG representatives, with the midfielder featuring 32 times in the league and chipping in with four goals.

Aubameyang makes the list, with only Ibrahimovc having scored more than him this term. The Gabon international forward has plenty of suitors due to his 19 league goals for Saint-Etienne.

Those goals have contributed to the club currently occupying a fifth position in the league and Christophe Galtier's side can still qualify for the Champions League.

Montpellier's Remy Cabella, Lille left-back Lucas Digne, Florent Thauvin, who has played this season on loan at Bastia from Lille, and PSG starlet Marco Verratti are the four nominated for the Young Player of the Year gong.

The winner of the awards will be announced on May 19.
