After leaving Stamford Bridge over five years ago, the Portuguese manager, who won two Premier League titles in his previous spell at the London club, could be set to return to English football having reportedly settled his differences with Roman Abramovich.
Since leaving Chelsea, Mourinho has won league titles in Italy and Spain as well as the UEFA Champions League with Inter, however his tenure at Real Madrid appears to be coming to an end after failing to win La Liga this season and not being able to add to their nine European Cup successes.
The 50-year-old's time at Madrid has been filled with flashpoints as he tried to control the club's players and win mind games with their opponents.
His most public falling out was with
goalkeeper Iker Casillas, with Mourinho dropping the Spain
international earlier this season much to the surprise of the
Madrid supporters. He also clashed with Pep Guardiola and his Barcelona
staff during an El Clasico fixture, which saw him given a touchline ban for gouging the eye of current Barca boss, Tito Vilanova.
Defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday ended Madrid's hopes in the competition this season and, having seemingly signalled his intent to leaving in his post-match interviews, his agent Jorge Mendes has confirmed that a move back to his former club is very likely, despite having a contract in the Spanish capital until 2016.
Mendes told Radio Mana Mana Sport: "After the match versus Borussia Dortmund he spoke with journalists and was fairly clear in saying that he wants to leave.

"There's about an 80 percent probability that Chelsea will be his next club.
"Chelsea fans adore Mourinho, they love him."
