Martins Grabs Brace In Indian League

Ranti Martins produced yet another brilliant performance to register a brace as Rangdajied United FC defeated Salgaocar 2-1 in an Indian-League match.

Ranti kept the defenders on their toes up front with his power and pace. He was fearless and resilient despite coming up against his Nigerian compatriot Wali Chika on the opposing end.

Martins' goals were netted in the 86th and 90th minute, in a game that produced 3 goals in the last seven minutes of explosive action.

The match which played at the Tilak Maidan Stadium also had Dudu Omagbemi in action for Salgaocar.

A brilliant individual performance by midfielder Francis Fernandes saw him dummy his marker in the box then beat an on-rushing defender when he poked the ball to the far corner for the opener in the 83rd minute.

Ranti, 27, had other ideas as he raced on to a through pass to beat Karanjit in goals for the hosts. They got another shock of their lives when the former Dempo star sealed the win with a trademark finish from the near post.

United are 14 points below league leaders Bengaluru, who drew 1-1 against Pune in a feisty clash at the Bangalore Football Stadium.
