Enyimba 3-0 Lobi Stars (Match Report)

Enyimba FC continued their unbeaten streak and recorded their third home win of the season with an impressive three-nil win over Lobi Stars.

The People's Elephants took the lead just before the 15-minute mark when Abdulrahman Bashir volleyed into an open net. Engine room, Rasheed Olabiyi picked up a loose headed clearance from skipper Chinedu Udoji and connected the pass to Andrew Abalogu who displaced keeper Terkaa Melai to set up Bashir.

It was 2-0 when former ABS FC wing dazzler Abalogu put the ball past the stranded Melai in goal for Lobi.

Mfom Udoh finally earned a well-deserved goal when he curled in a brilliant strike from 25 yards.

The former Akwa United player was outstanding in midfield as Zachary Baraje's side dominated possession against the out-numbered visiting team.

The home team made a great start to the match and created the best chance through Sibi Gwar who was denied by Melai after a wonderful solo effort.

That former Niger Tornadoes star had the opportunity to score but his 30-metre bullet was brilliantly saved by Melai once again.

Head coach of Lobi Evans Ogenyi made three changes to the squad that won at home against Nembe City - forwards Audu Sarki, Akombo Ukeyima and utility player, Bunde Moses all started. Barnabas Imenger and Stephen Eze were dropped to the bench while Cameroonian import, Kingsley Ashu was ruled out due to injury.

And ex-Enyimba attacker Akombo had Lobi's first attempt on goal with a speculative shot. Enyimba fans bey for penalty after Bashir was seemingly wrestled down by . Looked though like a justified penalty claim

Enyimba went close after the break when the energetic Bashir was brought down by Mathew Eliagwu, but the referee wasn't too impressed with his antics.

Joseph Ujah was involved in a spectacular save as he headed off a pass to Abalogu to deny Enyimba their fourth goal.

Enyimba's new signing and Super Eagles midfielder, Sani Keita was on hand to cheer the team while awaiting his debut.

The victory moves the Aba club to 11 points from 7 matches, while their opponents have 1 more point than them.

Baraje's men now face a trip to Bayelsa United, another team who will be busy in the continent this coming weekend.
