Nembe City in big trouble, fail to get past Heartland

Saibou Badarou's volley earned Heartland a 1-1 draw against Nembe City in the battle of two Globacom Nigeria Premier League strugglers at the Krisdera Hotel Stadium in Omoku on Wednesday evening.

The away team missed series of chances to score, before Ayuba Job gave Nembe the lead with an unstoppable penalty kick in the 11th minute.

But the Naze Millionaires rallied before the break and equalised when the Togolese import Saibou fired in a low shot from a right-wing cross.

Julius Ubido headed wide for the visitors and Okoro shot wide as both teams went close to a winner.

It was the same look with confidence lacking in the tactical formation and execution of both sides.

The home team threatened first as the energetic Okoro had a shot parried by Ebele Obi before Newman ballooned over the bar when put through. Nembe were lacking the cutting edge and the typical pointman in Obioma Arinze, who has since moved on to Elkanemi Warriors.

A draw was a tough one on Nembe who were in desperate need of the maximum points, while Heartland will take solace in another morale boosting performance.
