Sewe Sports dismiss Bayelsa United to qualify

A late knockout punch from Koffi Kouame helped visiting Sewe Sports Club of Ivory Coast to a 1-0 victory over Bayelsa United and sent them parking from the CAF Confederation Cup.
The match played at the Sapele Township Stadium saw the Ivorian side edged the only Nigerian survivor 1-0 - but that was more than enough for them to pass as they were leading in the first leg match with the score of 2-0. So with 3-0 on aggregate, they won the qualification ticket.

The home team will rue the poor finishing from top striker Bernard Okorowanta plus the absence of Buhari Jaffar who was excused to travel to see his grieving family after they lost an uncle.

Peter Ebimobowei was also guilty of squandering Bayelsa United best chance of the game when he failed to hit the target with the goalkeeper already beaten by a Mutiu Adegoke cross, 15minutes before Sewe got their goal.

Koffi Kouame scored the back-breaking goal in the 88th minute to send Bayelsa out of the Confederation Cup.

The 2008 Nigeria champions will now turn their attention to the Nigeria Premier League where they finished third last season.
