A determined Supreme Court side under the watchful eyes of Fatai Osho fought back from a goal down to record a 2-1 victory over Kaduna United in a Nigeria National League week four match at the Area Three Pitch on Friday.
Substitute Emmanuel Gbemi scored a late goal for the Apex Boys as they zoomed to the top of the Group A2 as at the time of filing this report.
Kaduna United were the better side in the opening minutes and they deservedly got in front when a right wing cross from Shamsudeen Hamisu was slotted home by Sunday Alasko in the 24th minute.
The away side almost got in front before the half hour mark, but for the good form of captain and goalkeeper of the Apex Boys, Iloh Daniel.
Supreme Court soon found their rhythm and pressed for the equalizer as the first ended 1-0 in favour of the visitors.
Some minutes into the second 45 minutes, Supreme Court head coach, Fatai Osho made two tactical changes, which later paid off.
He brought on Emmanuel Gbemi and Eric Ifegha to add bite to the attack.
Twenty minutes from time, Eric Ifegha found space for himself before unleashing a screamer to the back of the net.
With the match looking like ending in a draw, Emmanuel Gbemi handed the maximum points to the homers with a cool finish after the ball watching Kaduna United defenders were caught napping.
The game almost ended in a four-goal thriller, it took a brilliant save from Iloh Daniel at added time to make the three points safe for Supreme Court.
"I am happy and satisfied with our match," Supreme Court coach Fatai Osho said after the game.
''We now have seven points and are currently topping the group. We want to gain promotion this season and we are working towards that,'' the former Remo Stars gaffer explained.
Barnabas Saleh, coach of Kaduna United, on his part said his team played well in spite of their loss.
''We played well, even though we lost many scoring chances. But, we will go back to the drawing board and prepare better for our subsequent matches," Saleh said.
