We can still qualify- Emordi

Okey Emordi believe Kano Pillars are still on track to advance to the next round of the 2014 CAF Champions League despite a 3-1 loss to AS Vita in Kinshasa.

The loss was Emordi's first game in charge of the current Globacom Nigeria Premier League champions, but the former Enyimba FC tactician is hopeful Masu Gida can make it to the next round– though they will need "a little bit of luck" if they are to overturn a 3-1 deficit.

“We have forgotten what happened today (Sunday), and looking forward to the return leg in Kano, he revealed.

“We know we have a big job on our hands but the squad is united and everybody have resolved to play a cup final in a forthnight.

“The Champions League is one of our goals in 2014, the best way is to achieve our objectives. Obviously we have to build more confidence.

“Vita have done really well and deserve credit for what they have achieved in front of their home fans. We will need a great performance, and also a little bit of luck – if we get both of these things I am confident we can progress.

“Personally it would be a proud moment if we can make it through to the next round – but more than anything we want to do well for the club, state government and our supporters; we want a proud performance in Kano.

“We know what to expect and what they can do. I'm confident in my team. If they play the type of game I'm used to seeing, we have nothing to fear,” he concluded.
