ALAUSA MOVES TO THE SECOND-TIER DIVISION........................COMPILED BY ABAYOMI ADEMETAN

Onikan Waterfront fans had reasons to smile when they spotted a big name at the stadium complex on Tuesday. Followers of the second-teir football in Nigeria had the chance to catch a glimpse of a veteran of the game. It was a case of ambition on the part of former Kings United, as they seek to gain promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL).

Former Sunshine Stars defender-turned-attacker, Kabiru Oluwamuyiwa Alausa, has pitched tents with Nigeria National League side C.O.D United FC.

The ex-Heartland hotshot's decision to join the Bode Awakan-tutored side has been viewed as a coup by fanatical followers of the game. He last featured for Shooting Stars SC in the NPFL. Details of the deal was not disclosed by all parties involved.

The 30-year-old attacker who had his best years under the tutelage of Fatai Folorunsho Amoo, during his days as the pointman of Julius Berger, resisted the overtures of some sides in the NPFL and NNL to team-up with the Lagos-based side.

He had a brief but unsuccessful stint in Dubai and was at a time an ambassador of Samsung International.

Speaking exclusively with futbalgalore.blogspot.com, Alausa thanked C.O.D United officials, team mates and fans for being there for him when he signed the dotted lines.

"I thank everybody that have made my stay memorable. I am grateful to the coaches, officials, my team mates and the fans for their support,” he said.

“I am happy with my move to C.O.D United.

“My desire is to gain promotion to the NPFL and make a lasting impression with my team-mates in the 2013 Federation Cup.”

Alausa is expected to add the needed physical flavour to an attack that already boost of Emmanuel Yaro Bature, Tony Omaka, Ismaila Podoh and Dennis Lawrence.
