Rangers boss tips Boro defender to captain Eagles in future

Coach John Sam Obuh has tipped Middlesbrough defender Kenneth Omeruo to skipper the Eagles in a not too distant future.

In a chat with sl10.ng the coach who had managed Omeruo at the Under-17 and Under-20 level said his consistency with the Eagles puts him in pole position to captain the team in the future.

"Omeruo has shown tremendous consistency in the National team since he broke into the team and even though they are other senior players ahead of him in the team, his consistency might get it for him ahead of the rest"

"His case is similar to that of Yobo, who broke into the team as a right full back, claimed the centre back position and even though they were players ahead of him in the pecking order, he was named captain, I see Omeruo captaining the Eagles in the future."

The Coach said he is proud to have nurtured Eddy Onazi and Kenneth Omeruo who are sure bet to be at the World cup with the Super Eagles.

"It's only normal for me to be happy seeing boys I picked from academies four years ago, going to the World cup and my work as Coach of the Nigeria Youth teams will be greatly appreciated when 8 of my youth players start a game for the Super Eagles"

Obuh coached the Nigeria Under-17 and Under-20 team from 2009 to 2013 when he resigned after the World cup in the UAE.
