Nigerian Balotelli reported to be a Wolves player

Gbolahan Salami, a striker with national team experience, will move from Shooting Stars Sports Club to Warri Wolves, it was learned Friday.

The 22-year-old, was included in Stephen Keshi's African Nations Championship which placed 3rd in South Africa. He also played an important role in the team, but his presence was missing in the loss to Ghana, as he was injured.

The former Enyimba and Sunshine Stars forward is also known by admirers as the Balotelli of Nigerian Football, according to the fiery attacker, the Italian international is his role model.

Salami scored his first league goal for Sunshine Stars FC during the 2008-2009. His goalscoring rate improved in 2009-2010.

In March / April 2010, Salami was included in the squad of Nigeria B, playing both against Niger in a qualifier for the CHAN-tournament and becoming a key member for Nigeria B in the WAFU-tournament for West African B teams.

In July 2010, Salami was included in a training camp for the Super Eagles, preparing for an international friendly match against South Korea. Salami did not make the final squad, but the inclusion showed that Salami obviously is on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation.

Although Salami is mostly used as a centre forward, he can also play as a winger.

He is somewhat bigger. He has actually been referred to as “a towering striker”. He is nevertheless a burly, strong and hard-working striker with an impressing physical presence.
