AC Milan gaffer speaks to the Press

Massimiliano Allegri spoke exclusively to the Milan Channel ahead of tomorrow evening’s Champions League clash with Celtic at the San Siro:
“We have 13 players available to us and there’s a question mark over Poli. We’ll try and get him fit for the match. There are two other decisions to be made: Constant or Emanuelson and Robinho or Birsa.

I don’t think it’s a problem with the formation but rather having a different attitude. It’ll be a tough match tomorrow against a very physical team but I’m comforted by the fact that there’ll be at least 50,000 fans. Against Torino we showed very little against a team that conceded very little. We conceded goals on counter attacks when we had possession.

The team reacted well and we left Turin with a point which no one would have thought possible with ten minutes left to play in the match. I think that’s a good starting point. We didn’t lose and we have to improve in those areas where we made mistakes. We have to look for the win tomorrow while trying to be solid defensively as a team as they’ll be three important points for the group that we’re in and we have to get through the group stages.

If you’re target is to get to the play-offs then it’s normal that all your energy will be taken up by that aim. We played well against Cagliari and we’re close to where we were in the summer of 2011. Last year in the month of September we had four injuries to Amelia, Ambrosini, Mesbah and Montolivo. This year it’s Abate, El Shaarawy, Kakà and Montolivo again.

The other injuries for De Sciglio and Silvestre are from clashes. Pazzini is on the comeback trail following his operation. Saponara, Niang and Abate will be back available for selection from Thursday.

There are a couple of players from the Primavera side. Cristante looks a good player but we’re talking about teenagers. Still, if I had to call on him, I’d be confident. I think that Balotelli’s behavior on the pitch in Turin was great. Clinging on to individual episodes during a game is negative and I don’t like it. We have to be focused on playing and improving.”
