Dynamo Kiev forward Brown Ideye has
said Nigeria will again shock punters at the 2013 FIFA Confederations
Cup due to take place in Brazil.
African champions Nigeria are grouped with world and European Kings Spain, Oceania champions Taihiti and COPA wimners Uruguay in the competition that runs from June 15-30.
"We know the Confederations Cup is next and we are already preparing our minds towards it. I know that with the pairing we have, many may have ruled us out but am confident we would surprise them in Brazil," Ideye said.
Nigeria will earn $1.7 million as appearance fee for the tournament and could pocket as much as $4.1 million should they win the championship which would also heavyweights Brazil and Italy.
The tournament’s runners-up will take home $3.6 million, while the third-placed team will net $3 million. The fourth-placed team will earn $2.5 million.
The Super Eagles featured in the King Fayhd Cup in 1995 and finished fourth.
