FC goalkeeper, Michael Uweru has said his side will step up their game
against Nigeria National League (NNL) Matchday 9 opponents, Gabros FC in
Ogbomosho.
The Ogbomosho-based side fell 0-1 to Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM) FC on Matchday 8 at the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos on Tuesday.
However, coach Oladunni Oyekale's team still lead the pack in the NNL Group B on 15 points from a total of 24.
Uweru said hard luck was their greatest undoing in the encounter against MFM FC but stated that the Nnewi-based side will pay for the painful defeat to MFM FC this weekend.
"We'll surely step up our game against Gabros FC this weekend to ensure we win convincingly. Though we're still top of the log on 15 points, we'll claim the three points at stake to keep to our vow of staying at the top till the end of the season.
"The challenge aimed at dethroning us won't work because we already have our minds focused on the Premier League at the end of the season.
"We played well against MFM FC to deserve at least a point but the goals refused to come. Maybe we were not destined to win the encounter," said the experienced goaltender to supersport.com.
Crown went down to the lower division at the end of 2010/11 Nigeria Premier League season.
