Naira Rain For Our Heroes

The number one citizen of Nigeria,President Goodluck on Tuesday night showered more cash gifts, national awards  and plots of land on the triumphant Super Eagles.

President Jonathan at a special reception for the Eagles after they won the 2013 AFCON announced a cash donation of 10million naira to coach Stephen Keshi, assistant coaches will get 5 million each, same as the players.

Other team officials will receive 2million Naira.

Other well-meaning Nigerians have also donated another $2 million to the team, according to the President.

Besides the cash gifts, each team member received a plot of land in Abuja as well as national honours from the Nigerian government.

Keshi was decorated with the Commander of Niger (CON), his assistants are now Officer of Niger (OON), while the players are now Member of the Niger (MON).

President Jonathan thanked the Eagles for making the country proud and tasked them to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

"We thank you for making us proud, we gathered here to celebrate you our galant Eagles. It was a well deserved victory, you deserved all the accolades and praise, your victory reminds us that dreams can actually come true,” the President said.

“When we couldn't qualify for the 2012 edition of the competition, the general impression was that football has lost its battle. When you qualified for this edition, majority didn't give you a chance but with determination, you won.

"We thank Keshi for a good job, you have my backing. The next target is for you to qualify for the World Cup in Brazil. You musn’t fail and we will support you to do well.
