2013 FIFA Club World Cup: Official Emblem launched

The Official Emblem of the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco has been launched by the tournament's Local Organising Committee (LOC).

According to world soccer's governing body, FIFA, the emblem for the 10th edition of the tournament was unveiled in a glittering ceremony inspired by the rich cultural heritage and friendliness of Morocco here on Monday, some 100 days before the kick-off of the tournament.

The emblem for the 11-21 Dec. competition has the characteristic shape of the FIFA Club World Cup trophy, decorated with patterns influenced by the ancient Moroccan art of zellige (ceramic mosaics), thereby combining the spirit of the competition with the visual imagery of the host country.

FIFA said the Official Emblem evokes a Morocco that is 'open, welcoming and multicultural'.

The tournament features the champion clubs from the six continental confederations as well as the league winner from the host nation which, in the 2013 tournament, will be Raja Casablanca.

The opening match on 11 Dec. at the Grand Stade in Agadir, some 500km south of the largest city of Casablanca, will feature Raja and the champion of Oceania, Auckland City FC (New Zealand).

The final match will be played in Marrakech, Morocco's fourth largest city.
