Akpom re-energise Gunners

Chuba Akpom came off the bench to help Arsenal, and scored a crucial penalty as the Gunners barely escaped a rampaging West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns, to claim a place in the 4th Round of the Capital One Cup.

Both sides had ended the tie at 1-1, as Thomas Eisfeld's 62nd minute, and Saido Berahino's header nine minutes later, ensured both sides are locked after 120 minutes.

Then Serge Gnabry missed for Arsenal, and Akpom, who had come on for Eisfeld after 82 minutes, drew The Gunners level in the shoot out.

The drama continued as misses from Craig Dawson and Morgan Amalfitano swung the tie Arsenal's way, before full-back Nacho Monreal converted the decisive kick.

The Gunners have a 4th round tie against Chelsea to look forward to.
