Ayub Daud scored twice as Honved sealed a deserved 2-1 win against Szonbathelyi Haladas.
The hosts created several chances in the first half but were denied by goalkeeper Daniel Rosza.
Daud broke the deadlock one minute before the break when he fired in a low penalty drive.
The striker again added his second from the penalty spot, before Andras Rado pulled one back to spark a late flurry from the visitors.
Nigeria-born George Ikenne was a pest to the away side. His work rate upfront was well applauded by fans that thronged stadium.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder was on for the full 90 minutes.
