Egypt wonderkid Mohamed Salah must have thought he had won the game for FC Basel against Swiss top-flight visitors FC Sion until Ghana U-20 star Emmanuel Assifuah-Inkoom netted late to ensure a 2:2 draw between both sides.
Sion took the lead in the third minute of the tie and held their advantage until the 57th minute when Swiss midfielder Valentin Stocker equalised for the hosts.
Mohamed Salah then grabbed his second goal of the season to give Basel the lead in the 65th minute, but Ebenezer Assifuah, who joined the fray in the 61st minute, leveled the tie three minutes from time.
Ghana and Egypt clash in the World Cup qualifying play-offs in October and November with the winner over two legs qualifying for the finals next year.
Salah is certain to be leading the Pharaohs' charge for a place in Brazil, but it is uncertain whether Assifuah will make Kwesi Appiah's team.
Assifuah was the top scorer at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in June and joined Sion in the summer transfer window. The goal is his first in a competitive senior team match in Europe.
