Moyes made deadline moves for Real Madrid trio

Manchester United reportedly tried to hijack Arsenal’s move for Real Madrid’s Mesut Ozil, before asking after Sami Khedira and then Luka Modric.

The Red Devils were seen this transfer window as looking to strengthen in central midfield.
At the same time as seeing a deadline day move for Athletic Bilbao’s Ander Herrera fall through, apparently with impostors confusing the deal, the English reportedly returned to Madrid in a last ditch effort.

On from a previous approach for German international Ozil, it is understood that United tried to hijack his €45m switch out to Arsenal, unsuccessfully, before then enquiring after Khedira.

There were late rumours that the 25-year-old was open to an exit, but his agent yesterday denied these.

After being turned down on Khedira, The Daily Mail have it that David Moyes’ team were then turned down by Madrid asking for a third player, thought to be Modric.
