Amoo: Gabon Will Be Tough

Dream Team VI assistant coach, Fatai Amoo says he expects the Gabonese U23 team to be tougher than they were two weeks ago.

The Nigerian U23 team take on their Gabonese counterparts on Saturday in Abuja after winning the first leg 4-1 in Libreville, and Amoo says even though they got a comfortable win in the first leg, they expect the Gabonese to be better than they were a couple of weeks ago.

“We expect them to be tougher than they were two weeks ago because they know they must beat us to have a chance.

“They must also believe they can beat us here since we beat them in their backyard and I believe that will give them some confidence and it will spur them on.

“Beating them in Libreville was not going to be the end and we knew it, so it is natural that they come out better this time.”

The second leg game comes up this Saturdayat the Abuja National Stadium, and the country that scales through will face Zambia in the second and final qualifying round, and Amoo says they have prepared the minds of the players for any surprise from the Gabonese.

“We know we have the advantage, but we have prepared their minds to know that they must win this game to progress, and so as to avoid any surprises from the Gabonese.”
