Seventeen Akwa United Players Dropped

The Nigeria Professional Football League side, Akwa United Football Club of Uyo in their bid to do very well next season have dropped 17 players over non-performance and retained 18.

The management of the Promise Keeper have employed a plan to beef up the squad with players from Akwa Starlets and with some invited players alone.

Akwa Starlets ply their trade in the lower division, NNL, but missed out of promotion in the last match of the season.

Akwa United will by all means clinch a continental ticket next season and so do Akwa Starlet secure promotion to the NPFL as both teams would be playing their home games in the new Akwa-Ibom stadium in Uyo.

Akwa United ended the just concluded season on 16th position after garnered 51 points in 38 games.
