Skye Bank and UBA will clash in the final
of the 2014 Nigeria Bankers Games football event at the National
stadium in Lagos on Saturday.
To reach the final, both sides went
through the group stages without losing a match, though UBA dropped
points in their draw with Fidelity Bank to end on 10 points from four
games while their day’s opponents took all 12 points to emerge group
champions.
The Managing Director of Skye Bank
Timothy Oguntayo vowed his team would retain their title, saying their
opponents were no match.
He said, “We are a winning team and will
continue to win. Our strength as an organisation lies in our people and
we will continue to encourage platforms like the Nigeria Bankers Games
that helps keep them healthy and fit.”
UBA was not left out of the mind’s game
as they equally sent a strong message of intent using the occasion of
the trophy presentation.
The Team Manager of UBA Emeka Udegbulem
said, “UBA were the first team to lift the retired trophy and in
continuation of that tradition we will lift the new Trophy. Team Skye
has had their run, now it is our turn.”
