Rivers Angels skipper eyes double, determined to reward the fans

Rivers Angels captain Evelyn Nwabuoku wants to win the double for the club as they prepare to take on Nasarawa Amazons in the Nigeria Women Football Champion of Champions' match on Thursday at Confluence Stadium.


The 28-year-old has been a key figure for the Port Harcourt Angels last term with swash-buckling displays.

The former Finland based enforcer was at her usual best on Monday for the club as they coasted to a 3-1 win over Confluence Queens in a friendly match.

The former Nigeria Under-20 star says she wants to cap an incredible season by winning the double for the club.

“It has been amazing playing for this great club. It was not easy at the initial stages but I have fit into the system,” Evelyn said.

“I really want to win the double for the fans. They have been amazing.

“We know it’s not going to be easy but we have what it takes to win the double.

“We defeated Amazons 3-0 in the Fed Cup final in Lagos, I believe we can hold our own against them again.

“It’s a great feeling to have won the Fed Cup final and I believe we can win the league for our fans.

The former Bayelsa Queens player has been sensational since joining the club.
