Sunshine Sunshine Queens started the pre-season tour of games with a 1-0
win over Osun Babes before about 300 fans at Akure Township Stadium on
Friday.
It was a closer match than anticipated, with many Akure fans believing Osun Babes would be swept aside by Sunshine.
Sunshine Queens were dominant in the early stages against the nervous visitors
Tina, a former Nasarawa Amazons player broke the deadlock on the 38th minute of play by finishing off a good work from the midfield with a close-range shot that beat Sekinat Olowu in goal for Osun Babes.
The goal triggered greater urgency from Osun Babes, coached by , and Ganiyat Adeleke twice threatened the home team.
A frenetic start to the second half saw both teams come close to scoring and Osun Babes posed more of a threat as it progressed, although they were continually let down by wild shooting.
Sunshine Queens will face an U13 boys team on Sunday, while Osun Babes have a mountain to climb in FC Robo on Wednesday.
