Low: Incomprehensible to let Ozil go

Joachim Low has admitted he is somewhat perplexed by Real Madrid’s decision to sell Mesut Ozil to Arsenal.

A number of Ozil’s now former teammates have commented on their surprise at the deadline day deal for €45m and now his national team manager has gotten in on the act.

“To me, it is a little incomprehensible that Madrid has let go one of the most effective players in recent seasons,” Low commented to reporters today.

“Many Real players like Sami Khedira or Cristiano Ronaldo are sad about the transfer.

“Mesut is a very sensitive player who needs to feel the full support of the Coach. From what I have heard from Madrid, that support, which was there previous, no longer existed to the same extent.

“I spoke with Arsene Wenger, who fought to have Mesut on his team. Now Mesut goes to a top Coach who believes in him and where there are other German internationals in Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker.

“Arsenal are a football team that plays a technically high-quality football for him also.”
