A report in Italy suggests that Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham for £93m, with Fabio Coentrao moving the other way.
Los Merengues have been increasingly linked with a move for the Welshman this summer, despite Spurs’ desire to keep hold of the star.
Reports in recent weeks have been that an official world record offer has been placed and today Sky Sport Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio is running the line that a deal has now been agreed.
The transfer expert suggests that negotiations for the 24-year-old have accelerated in recent hours and that a deal worth £93m, around €109m, has been agreed.
It is understood that Madrid’s wantaway full-back Fabio Coentrao will be included in the move, going in the opposite direction, although it remains to be seen if he is included in addition to the £93m, or to subsidise that.
