WE LIKE MATA

Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo has hinted that Chelsea’s Juan Mata may just be out of the club’s price bracket this summer.

The capital club have been linked in recent days with making a move for the Spain international, whilst Diego Simeone even refused to rule it out when asked on Sunday.

However, Atleti’s President has looked to temper such rumours today.

“Mata is a good player,” began Cerezo when quizzed on a possible move.

“But he is in the Premier League and over there they are paid a lot.

“We have a fantastic squad and right now I do not know if the Coach is planning to bring in anyone else or not, but even so, we have seven days.”

That squad is preparing currently for the Supercopa de Espana second leg against Barcelona on Wednesday.

“It is the biggest game remaining in this year. We must go out to win. We are facing a great team and the best players in the world, but we also have great players.

“The final is uncertain. We know of the capacity and the great team that Barcelona has, but the final is 50-50.

“Messi is a great player, but Barca also have a great team, so if he plays or not, there is no problem…for them.”

Cerezo was asked his view on Real Madrid potentially spending a world record amount for Gareth Bale.
“If Real Madrid have the money, I feel fine that they can sign Bale.
