Rivers Angels have thanked the Rivers state Governor Rotimi Amaechi and the commissioner for sport, Fred Igwe for the support they have enjoyed which has encouraged them to always contend for trophies.
The Angels through their team manager Matilda Otuene said this after qualifying for the Federation Cup final a third time on Wednesday in a 2-0 defeat of Pelican Stars of Calabar.
We have been treated the same way as Sharks FC and Dolphins FC, this has encouraged us to always give it our best and I am happy we will not disappoint their trust in us, she said.
The governor and our commissioner have done all they can to give us the best and we appreciate him for engendering gender equality in football, she continued.
The Port Harcourt Angels won the Women's Federation Cup back-to-back in 2011 and 2012 and her chasing a third successive shield in Lagos.
They will face Nasarawa Amazons in the final match to be held on September 15, 2013 in Lagos.
