'Relying on Messi is inevitable'

Dani Alves has admitted that it is ‘inevitable’ that Barcelona rely on Lionel Messi, but the defender has downplayed the record-breaker’s injury.

The Argentina international was left out of the Blaugrana squad to face Malaga this weekend, but the Brazilian full-back has insisted that there is nothing to worry about.

“It’s normal that when he doesn’t play people worry because he wants to play every day,” Alves told a Press conference.

“But I don’t think there’s any need for alarm.

“Ferraris also have to go in to the workshop sometimes.

“If you have the best player in the world, it’s inevitable to rely on him.

“But we’ll try and make his absence show as little as possible.”

The Brazil international then commented on new signing Neymar, as well as the match against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

“Neymar is really keen to play but he knows where he’s come and how demanding it is.

“He is making good use of the time the boss is giving him.  The more time he gets, the more he will contribute.  And I believe he’ll bring a lot to Barca.
