Kano Pillars goalkeeper John Lawrence has revealed that the team is still in a state of shock after the team bus was attacked by suspected armed robbers just before Abaji town near Abuja on Thursday.
Five players were badly injured including all time highest goal scorer of the team, Gambo Mohammed.
“We are trying to pull ourselves together but we thank God that they are now getting better but still at the hospital in Lokoja. The doctors have told us the gunshot did not affect their bones, just the flesh but that they are going to be okay,” he said.
Lawrence also revealed that the team will be going back to Kano for further treatment as soon as they get discharged from the hospital in Lokoja.
The League Management Company has since confirmed that the week one tie between Heartland FC and Kano Pillars scheduled for this weekend has been suspended due to the unfortunate incident.
